| Print Process Litho print produces the majority of printed material you see around us. It uses two ingredients in its basic form Ink (oil) and Water and uses the principle that ink (oil) and water do not mix. Printing plates have a special coating on them which attracts ink (oil) to the image areas and water to the non image areas. The ink is then transferred to a rubber based blanket which then transfers the image to the paper under pressure. CMYK printing is a method of reproducing colour on paper, the image is broken up into lots of small dots, a different angle is used for each colour (cyan/magenta/yellow/black). When these dots are printed on top of each other it gives the effect of different colours based on varying percentages of dots. Spot colour printing is a method of reproducing solid colours out of one ink, we mix inks from a selection of base colours. We use the Pantone colour matching system which has over 1000 colours to choose from. | | ||||||||||||||
